Srirangapatna was the capital of Tipu Sultan. It is one of Karnataka’s most storied locations, a confluence of trade and culture from the heydays of the Vijaynagar Empire. It is a rocky island formed by Cauvery River. According to history, Srirangapatna was founded by the rulers of Ganga dynasty in the 9th century. However, the destination came into the limelight during the reign of the Vijayanagara Empire. The rise of the Wodeyar kings marked the downfall of the Vijayanagara Empire.
Melkote Cheluvanarayana Swamy temple has an extensive history dating back to Kritha Yuga which was termed as Vedadri. Melkote is a holy place situated in Pandavapura Taluk of Mandya District of Karnataka. Melkote is also known as Thirunarayanapuram. This is built on the stony hills and is known as Yadugiri & Yaadavagiri.
